In sweet memory of the apricot tree that reigned over the backyard of my childhood home. It was the king of my playground, so tall and old that we could only pick the fruit from the lower branches, but it was truly a marvellous sight in spring, when all the yard would be covered in a white blanket of blossoms carried by the wind, like an intoxicatingly scented snowfall.

Mădălina's inspiration:

"This is not my usual candy, but a mix of emotions - endearing and sad at the same time.

I’ve been having this intense feeling of hopelessness lately, the heartrending feeling that we’re more and more alone, that relying on people is getting harder, that we’re missing “the village” around us, that those we had near seem further and further away, physically and emotionally. Different ideas, different views on life, different needs, different dreams. Growing apart. And that maybe the past two years, apart from crippling us and deepening the isolation, actually revealed the reality of the relationships we were cultivating.

I used to bitterly joke with Daniel saying “It’s gonna be just us two, until the end of days, just watch”. Oh well, I’m watching and getting more comfortable with grief every day. Because at the same time, I’ve never felt more connection and strength coming from this bond we’re having. I’ve never felt more empowered and certain that we can move mountains and live the way we want to live, with or without the village around us. Beyond the sadness it came from, this illustration is an ode to us, to our couple, to our partnership and our future island :D Because if it is gonna be just the two of us until the end of days, that’s enough."
