This book, as you will soon hold it in your hands, was my dissertation project during my studies in London (circa 2011). When I went there, I chose to take something with me that was representative of who I am and where I come from, knowing that there would be nearly 100 students from all corners of the world. I showed that the Romanian fairy tale can proudly stand alongside many international subjects and modern styles.

What started as a student project became a published book in 2012 by a Romanian publishing house. More than that, it was my first step as an illustrator into the real world and a path to the hearts of those who believe that traditions, folklore, stories and Romanian heritage are worth preserving and passing on. Even though my artistic style has evolved over time, "Zâna Zorilor" remained mentioned, sought after, and loved. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

After 12 years, I have brought it back into the world in honor of the thoughts that kept it alive. If you’ve known me through this book, thank you for staying with me. If you're discovering it now, I'm happy you have the chance to take a leap back in time and get to know the early Madalina.
